Laura leads the mHealth and digital health research efforts for HITLAB, a healthcare innovation lab based in New York City. HITLAB works with partners across the healthcare landscape to ideate, create and evaluate novel technologies that solve major challenges in healthcare. At HITLAB, Laura implements a range of research methodologies, including UX/UI tests, beta tests, usability and feasibility studies, ethnographies, pilot studies, needs assessments, randomized trials, impact evaluations, economic evaluations, M&E and others. Her recent work includes evaluating the impact of consumer-facing wearables on physical activity behaviors, assessing how mobile messaging affects health-seeking behavior among pregnant women in rural Ghana, and testing whether an improved EHR workflow can improve clinical outcomes in trauma intensive care patients. Recent project partners include Novartis, AARP, New York Presbyterian Hospital, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Columbia University and others. Previously, Laura has led and performed research around health outcomes and health service utilization for Boston University, International Medical Corps and Oxfam, including three years spent in South Africa evaluating the impact of health and education programming. She has a Masters in Public Health from Boston University and a BA from Georgetown University.
